Relax, Release… And Eat Chocolate!

The last couple of weeks have been busy.  So my weekend getaway last weekend was long overdue and so well deserved…

The weekend was just awesome!  B, K and I went to Hershey, Pennsylvania for the weekend.  We started off with letting our inner children out at one of the sweetest places on earth — Hershey Amusement Park.  (Since I got the all clear to begin IUI from Dr. N, this would probably be my last time to get on any thrill rides before getting pregnant and I intended to enjoy it to the fullest.)  Hershey Park is just great!  As soon as you get to the park you smell the scent of chocolate wafting through the air.  We began our visit by doing a tour of Chocolate World, where you get on a tram and take a tour of a simulated chocolate factory to see how the chocolate is made.  At the end of the tour you are given a piece of freshly made Hershey’s chocolate.  We then went and got some freshly baked chocolate chip cookies and made our way to the rides.

The day was a little overcast so we decided to hit the water rides first, just in case it rained.  The park was super crowded and as expected the lines were super long.  But we waited patiently to be thrilled.  After about three rides we decided to get on a ride called the Vortex.  Here’s a description of the ride from the park’s website:  “Riders accelerate down a steep 54″ diameter tunnel and shoot into the large bowl feature.  After multiple revolutions riders transition to the corkscrew center core exit and down the outrun chute to the landing pool below.  Splash pool depth is 3.5 feet.”  And this is what the ride looks like:

Notice that the description says that after “multiple revolutions” in the large bowl, the rider is supposed to shoot down the slide into the pool.  Well this girl right here did not do that.  I literally got stuck in the bowl!  I landed in the bowl and my inner tube would not move.  I just sat there.  At first I was like ok, maybe this is what it does.  But…I continued to just sit there.  I started looking around, up and down, with a puzzled look on my face.  And then I thought, ok the lifeguard sees me through the television monitor at the top of the ride so she’s just going to press some magic button that is somehow going to release me.  But…I just sat there.  Water gushing all around me and I continued to just sit there.  Then I started to laugh because anyone who knows me knows that this could only happen to me.  I then lifted my butt up off of the inner tube and thought that the motion would somehow free me, but nope, I just sat there…  Then I started to try to shimmy my way to the side of the bowl in hopes that I could get enough force to push myself off the side.  After multiple attempts, I finally made it to the side and gave myself a good push.  And guess what?  I just sat there…  LOL!  This is when panic almost set in.  I let out a quiet “Umm, HELP!?”  I was like how the hell am I going to get out of here?!  Someone’s gonna come get me, right???  But I heard or saw no one.  I then tried one last time to push myself off of the side and it finally worked!  One spin around the bowl and I was finally spit out of that thing.  The only thing I could do was laugh as I landed in the pool…  Life lesson???  When you’re feeling stuck never give up; eventually you will push your way through!

B came down the slide after me and was laughing as well because she saw the entire thing on the television monitor as she waited to enter the ride.  Of course, her ride went as it was supposed to…  K then came down, without a problem, and we tried to make our way to the next ride.  But Mother Nature had different plans.  She decided that it was time to pour down rain.  After getting soaked for about an hour, and seeing that the rain wasn’t going to let up, we left the park and headed back to the hotel.  We changed our clothes and headed off to dinner, which was pretty tasty.

The next morning we woke up, had breakfast, and headed off to an amazing experience — the Spa at the Hotel Hershey.

Both B and I had a Cocoa Massage and K had a Chocolate Fondue Body Wrap.  I had been especially looking forward to the spa because it was going to be the start of my zen period, to get my mind and body in alignment for IUI.  And to my pleasant surprise I was greeted by my masseuse, who had a very pronounced baby bump!  Out of all of the massages I’ve ever had, I have never had a pregnant masseuse!  I took this as a clear sign that I was on my way to mommyhood.  I told my masseuse my plans to become an SMC and told her to pay extra special attention to any parts of my body that would increase my fertility.  She worked her magic and by the end of the massage I was definitely in zen-mode.

This spa was definitely the BEST spa I’d ever been to.  To sum it up, in the words of K: “We are coming back here!”  When we were finished we all smelled like chocolate and K’s skin felt like a baby’s bottom.  We relaxed in the lounge for a bit and talked about our treatments as we sipped on some absolutely delish hot chocolate.  I was feeling relaxed, refreshed, and open to receiving my blessings.

It was truly a great weekend and my countdown to IUI has begun!
