A Single Girl's Quest to Becoming a Mom, Finding Love, and Everything In Between…

I Said I’m a Foodie, Not Food!

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, where are all the normal guys?  I admit, I can be super picky, but I don’t think it’s too much to ask to meet a guy who is smart, funny, kinda cool, with good social skills.  Unfortunately, with the creation of text messaging and social media accounts such as Facebook, I think a lot of people have left their social skills at the door.

What happened to the days when I guy would pick up the phone to call you just to say hey?  Or just picking up the phone to have a conversation, period!  I’m finding that nowadays men just want to text you all damn day.  Is it that they are lazy and don’t want to put in the effort of picking up the phone and having a conversation, or is it that that’s the way society communicates now?  I don’t know what it is, but my desire for a human connection, along with my carpal tunnel syndrome, doesn’t like it.

You might be thinking what does this have to do with the title of this post…  Well, I’ve been texting with this guy for some time now.  And for some reason, every morning he sends me a good morning text, comparing me to food.  And as I do every morning, I look at the text and just shake my head.  This morning I got: “Good morning honey wheat toast with warm spicy apple butter.”  Yesterday it was: “Good morning french toast, turkey bacon, cheese grits, buttermilk fluffy biscuits with a tall glass of orange juice.”  (It’s hard for me to control my laughter as I even write that).

I’m not sure who would even find this attractive or “sweet”.  I appreciate him thinking about me in the morning, but to compare me to a breakfast meal???  He knows I’m a big time foodie, but I never told him that I like being called food.  Would any woman think of this as a term of endearment?  He’s a grown man (38 years old) — hasn’t he learned other ways to try to “woo” a woman?  I just don’t get it…

And this my friends, is just one of the reasons why I’m still single.  I can’t take a man who compares me to a full course breakfast meal serious.  Maybe that’s just me being too picky, but I just can’t…

  1. I wouldn’t be interested in a guy who talked to me as if I were food either. It’s a bit too cheesy, even for me! Thanks for making me smile though 😉

I agree, what is wrong with a phone call? A phone call off a guy can make me smile, constant texts can make me feel harrassed.

  2. Fantastic!
He probably feels like he is being so quirky and adorable. Face to face the struggle to hold back laughter would probably suffice, but there’s now way to convey “ummm… That’s a little weird” polietly by text.

  3. Hahah.. Was he just trying to tell you what he’s having for breakfast? Heheh.. Anyway I am guilty too of comparing men to food (fries) so I shouldn’t say much 😛
